Information: The Salvation Army is running LemonAiD Days from July 4th – July 23rd. It is a benefit for homeless children at the shelter and is run by children in the community who donate proceeds from lemonade stands.

Bluegrass 10,000 Foot Race
Information: The Bluegrass 10,000 is celebrating its 32st Anniversary this year! Come and join the more than 3,500 men, women and youth who have made it a Fourth of July tradition to run in this 10K race. Registration begins on June 1 and entry forms are available at the Race Headquarters and are published in the newspaper. The Race Headquarters are located at the Dunbar Community Center, 545 N. Upper Street. Office hours are 10 am – 5 pm, June 2 – 13 and 11 am – 6 pm, June 16 – July 1. The office is not open on weekends. Chip timing will again be used this year so please remember to turn your chip in at the end of the race. (There is a $30 fee for unreturned chips.) The Bluegrass 10,000 is brought to you by Parks and Recreation and the Lexington-Herald Leader. 7:50 am – Crank Wheelchair Division, 7:55 am – Wheelchair Division, 8 am – 10K, and 8:20 am – Fun Run.

Patriot Quartet
Information: James Harrod Entertainment Sampler beginning at 7:00 p.m. in the James Harrod Amphitheater at Old Fort Harrod State Park.This gospel concert will feature patriotic songs and favorite traditional songs as made popular by The Statesmen, The Blackwood Brothers and the original Oak Ridge Boys quartets. Stargazing
Information: Planets, stars, nebula, moons, constellations and the Milky Way are just a few of the things you will discover in the night sky. Co-sponsored by the Bluegrass Amateur Astronomy Club, this program begins with a short slide presentation on various astronomical topics and ends with viewing the night sky through telescopes with members of the club to help out. Woodland Jubilee
Information: For more than twenty years, individuals have flocked to Woodland Park and enjoyed music from a genre that is often described as “musician’s music.” With its traditional acoustic instruments, distinctive vocal harmonies and originality from the performers, this bluegrass concert guarantees a good time for everyone. Concert goers should pack a lawn chair or blanket for seating. Concessions will be available on-site or individuals may pack a picnic dinner. The Woodland Jubilee is sponsored by the Division of Parks and Recreation 92.9 The Bear, WTVQ-TV and T-Mobile. For additional information on the Woodland Jubilee, call 288-2925. History to Chew On Series
Information: Pack your brown bag dinner and join us for the McConnell Springs “History to Chew On” series. Held the first Thursday of the month through October, these presentations will focus on aspects of Central Kentucky to include history, geology, archaeology and culture. The event is free but registration is requested as seating is limited. Soft drinks and water will be provided. This month’s presentation will be “Dinner with the Dead” and will be about a local, colorful historical figure, William “King” Solomon who assisted with Lexington’s 1833 cholera epidemic.
