Halo Stereo: Up and Coming Band

By Kendra Ratliff Posted: May 15th, 2010

When a band from Nashville, Tennessee has musical influences that range from The Who, Pink Floyd and Gary Numan, you can't deny that they know what music is.

Halo Stereo seems to have a good grasp on music, as British sensations like The Who and contemporary rock groups like The Faint and The Shins, who play in their iPods, impact the group's musical creation. The group of four has musical knowledge that shows through in the music they produce. Their innovative sound and diverse lyrics create edgy tracks that introduce a new sound music fans can be excited about.

Andrew Fry, Jody Hicks, Nathan McDonald, and Brian Meeks have been in love with music for as long as they can remember. With long-term goals to tour and record music the rest of their lives, the band is currently making a lot of noise with their 2008 album, The Invisible War. It's the album they always wanted to make. "We recorded and produced over half the album independently. A lot of thought and emotion went into the songs and the lyrics and we put tons of work into the synthetics and engineering of the album. We're very proud of it," says lead vocalist and writer Andrew Fry.

To accompany the release of the album the band is also touring and is excited to introduce their music to Lexington, KY. Buster's, located on 164 W. Main Street, will be hosting Halo Stereo September 16. People can expect alternative electro-rock music and a "thoroughly entertaining and face-melting rock show," says Fry.

On top of their musical flair, Halo Stereo's sense of humor and strong sense of brotherhood is sure to help the continuation down the success path. The band's secret is understanding that "you have to be friends first and a band second. Time spent actually playing music is a small percent of a tour and we have to be able to get along and not kill each other." says Fry, who can't wait to quit his day job to focus on the band full-time.

The group is keeping music their priority and hope to play at Madison Square Garden or the Sommet Center in Nashville, TN someday soon. Halo Stereo, like their own musical influences, is one of those bands that when you first hear their sound, you just know they're meant to be big!
